A Letter from Dr. Hathaway,

Cataract surgery has always been a safe, effective treatment for the loss of vision caused by the inevitable development of cataracts. However, as good as the surgery is, it was still necessary to treat the eye afterward with several weeks of eyedrops to prevent infection, inflammation, and minor discomfort. These drops could be expensive, inconvenient, and difficult to administer for some people. Thanks to a new combination of medications that can be placed at the time of surgery, most if not all of those post-operative drops can now be eliminated, allowing patients to enjoy their improved vision from day-1. Starting in 2019, I was the first surgeon in the area to offer completely dropless, no-stitch cataract surgery to my patients and have been very happy with the results.
