What is Myopia?

Myopia is the medical term for nearsightedness. People with myopia see objects more clearly when they are close to the eye, while distant objects appear blurred or fuzzy. Reading and close-up work may be clear, but distance vision is blurry. http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Myopia

What are the symptoms of myopia?

Symptoms of myopia include blurred distance vision, eye discomfort, squinting and eyestrain.

How do we treat myopia?

If you are having trouble seeing distance, it’s best to be evaluated by your SMO ophthalmologist or optometrist. There are three main options for treatment: eyeglasses, contact lenses, and for those who meet certain criteria, refractive eye surgery.

SMO specializes in laser refractive eye surgery (Lasik/PRK). This surgery is performed locally in our Marshall office and typically takes about (INSERT TIME).

If you are not a candidate for laser refractive surgery, eyeglasses and contact lenses are available treatments. SMO has an expanded optical shop with over 2,000 frames available.
